A STORY FROM THE OLD CHURCH

Now let's go up the bell tower and find out exactly who's been ringing those bells, blustered Mr. Korppinen, jumped over to the doors of the church.
The bell tower looked like there was nobody for a long time. For the whole day the people of the village wondered what was behind the church bells ringing in the middle of night. The village's residents came to conclusion that it was the wind.
Evening came and in every home people were getting ready for the bed. But suddenly bells started to ring! All people of the village got up.
As the time approached midnight, puffing and blowing could be heard from the tower's strairs. Suddenly men heart loud sneeze,then another and a third and... At that moment the parson and Mr.Korppinen were scared and they rushed out of their hiding place.The mysterious bell ringer looked at two men, and than he howled.
Since then the bells rang only during the day and nobody has ever seen elf again.

Little fat worm
The moon was shining at night on a tree leaf. There
was a little egg on that leaf. On one Sunday morning a hungry, hungry
worm came out of it. The worm went right away to find something to
eat. On Monday it ate an apple, on Tuesday it ate 2 pears, on
Wednesday it ate 3 plums, on Thursday it ate 4 strawberries, on
Friday it ate 5 oranges and on Saturday it ate a cake, bread, ice
cream, a cucumber, cheese, a sausage, caramel, a pie and a melon.
After eating all this, on Sunday it turned into a shell, out of which
later came a butterfly.

Ketun valkoinen hännänpää
Olipa kerran nainen ja kettu. Nainen oli kirnuamassa voita, kun kettu sattui nälkäisenä kulkemaan ohi. Se päätti kirnuamisen kuullessaan hankkia itselleen ruokaa. Niinpä kettu lönkytteli joen rantaan ja löysi sieltä vedestä huuhtoutuneen kalan. Se meni naisen ikkunan alta kala suussaan ja nainen kysyi:
- Mistäs sait noin komean kalan?
- Joesta kalastin, vastasi kettu.
Ja siitäkös nainen innostui ja haki miehenkin mukaansa rantaan kalastamaan. Sillä välin kettu livahti naisen keittiöön ja alkoi latkia kermaa ja syödä voita. Ja aikansa turhaan ongittuaan tulivat mies ja nainen keittiöön ja yllättivät ketun. Molemmat suuttuivat kovasti, ja nainen ehti juuri huitaista kettua häntään kirnunmännällä ennen kuin se livahti ovesta ulos. Ja siitä lähtien on ollut ketulla valkoinen hännänpää.
The Fox's White Tip
Once upon a time there was a woman and a fox. The woman was churning butter, when the fox happened to walk past feeling very hungry. It heard the churning and decided to get some food. So the fox went to the river and found a fish on the shore. It went past the woman's window, holding the fish in its mouth and the woman asked:
- Where did you get such a good fish?
- I fished it from the river, the fox answered.
The woman got excited, and got the man with here to
the river to fish. And meanwhile the fox sneaked to the kitchen and
started licking the cream and eating the butter. After fishing
without any success the man and the woman went back to the house and
saw the fox. The man and the woman both got really angry and the
woman had just a time to hit the fox on the tip of its tail with the
charm stick before it got out of the door. And since then the fox has
had a white tip. :)

Kauan sitten eräs haikara teki erehdyksen. Haikara antoi leijonan poikasen lammas
äidille. Leijonan poikanen löysi nopeasti lammas äitinsä ja mollemat olivat onnellisia.
Mutta toiset karitsat kiusasivat Leeviä, koska hän ei osannut sanoa bää pelkästään Miau. Myöhemmin kun Leevi oli kasvanut paha susi tuli syömään kaikki lampaat. Kaikki olivat peloissaan. Sitten Leevi sanoi GRRRRRRRRRRR...! Susi juoksi kauas pois. Sen jälkeen Leevi oli sankari!
Leevi, a nice lion
Long time ago, there was a stork which made a
mistake. The stork gave a small lion to a sheep mother. The small
lion found its new mother and both of them were happy. But other
lambs were laughing at Leevi. He could not make baa . He could make
just miaow . Later, when he grew up, a bad wolf came to eat all the
lambs. They were frightened. But suddenly Leevi made grrr and the
wolf ran away. Since that time Leevi was a hero.

Petteri punainen laskelmoiva poroa
Olipa kerran poro nimeltä Petteri. Porolla oli punainen nenä syntymästä asti. Häntä kiusattiin siitä. Poro oli surullinen nenän takia. Hänen kaverit kiusasivat Petteriä. Eräänä päiväna joulupukki näki Petterin. Hän keksi heti miten tarpeellinen Petteri oli. Niinpä hänen kirkas punainen nenä loistaa pukin reen edessä. Ja näin pukki näkee jouluyönä pimeässä.

Once upon a time there was a reindeer called Petteri. Petteri had a red nose ever since he was born. His friends teased him about the nose. He was very sad. One day Santa Claus saw him and realized how important he was , so now Petter´s red nose shines in front of Santa Clause´s sleigh. So now Santa Claus can see the way in front of him in the dark at night at Christmas.

Kettu ja jänis
Kerran tapasivat kettu ja jänis toisensa. Kettu sanoi jänikselle:
– Eipä sinua kukaan pelkää.
– Kukapa sinua sitten pelkää? vastasi jänis.
– Kaikki minua pelkäävät, tuumasi kettu, minulla on pitkä häntä, minkä takia kaikki luulevat minua sudeksi, kun matkan päästä näkevät. Siksi minua pelätään, mutta sinua ei kukaan pelkää.
– Lyödään vetoa, sanoi jänis, minä näytän, että minua pelätään. – Toinen suostui siihen ja veto lyötiin.
Läksivät sitten yhdessä kävelemään ja jänis huomasi lammaslauman aidan vieressä makaamassa. Tuon keksittyään se hyppäsi heti lammaslaumaan, jolloin lampaat sitä pelästyen läksivät juoksemaan, minkä kerkesivät.
Jänis siitä ilosta, että se nyt oli vedon voittanut, rupesi nauramaan ja nauroi niin mahdottomasti, että sen suu ristiin repesi.
Ja siitä lähtien ovatkin kaikkien jänisten suut olleet ristiin halki.
The fox and the rabbit
Once the fox and the rabbit met. The fox told the rabbit :
- Nobody is scared of you.
- Well, who would be afraid of you? The rabbit answered.
-Everybody is scared of me, I have a long tail, and that's why everybody thinks that I'm a wolf, when they see me from far away. That's why everybody is afraid of me, but nobody is scared of you.
- Let's bet, I'm going to show you, that everybody is afraid of me, the rabbit said.
The fox accepted the bet.
The fox and the rabbit went out for a walk and the rabbit saw a herd of sheep. The rabbit jumped to the middle of the herd and the sheep ran away scared.
The rabbit was so happy, because it won the bet. It started to laugh and laughed so much, that its mouth ruptured into a cross.
And since then all the mouths of all rabbits have been ruptured into a cross.

Olipa kerran pieni kylä jossa asui soma herttainen tyttö nimeltään Tuhkimo. Hän asui komeassa kartanossa ilkeän äitipuolen ja hänen sisarpuolensa kanssa. Tuhkimon elämä oli ankea hänet pakotti raatamaan taloustöissä ja hänen sisarpuolet juoksuttivat hämtä kuin palvelijaa, Iitaisiin pitkän raskaaan päivän päätteelisi,Tuhkimo käpertyi takan äären hiilloksen.Sisarpuolet rakastivat juhlia tanssiaisia ja eräänä päivänä posti toi aivan ertyisen kutsun se oli kuninkaalta kaikki neidot valtakunnassa kutsuttiin suurin tanssiaisin joissa prinssi valitse itselleen morsiamen. Tuhkimo parka ei voinut lähte tanssiasiin sillä hänen äitipuoli ja siskopuolet eivät annatanet hänen mennä.Sydän suruissa Tuhkimo-raakka katseli ikkunasta kun siskokset nuosivat vaunuihin .Kun Tuhkimo istu itkemassa hän kuuli ääni, mitä sinä haluat kultaseni ääni sanoi.Tuhkimo käännähti ja näki edessään salaperäisen vanhan naisen joka piteli sormissään taikasauvaa.Älä pelkää sanoi vanha rouva olen haltiatarkummisi ja voin täyttyä toiveesi.Tuhkimo halusi mennä tanssiaisiin ja hän toivu sitä.Hän menne tanssiasiin, tanssi prinssin kanssa ja menne naimissiin prinssin kanssa.Tuhkimo ja prinssi elivät onnellisina elämänsä loppun asti.
Cinderella
Once upon a time in a far away small kingdom lived a sweet girl called Cinderella. She lived in a beautiful mansion with her stepmother and two stepsisters. Cinderella´s life was horrible and hard, she was forced to do the housework from morning till the evening she would carry water, light fires, cook and wash. Besides this the sisters did her every imaginable harm. The sisters love parties and balls and one day the post brought a very important invitation. It was from the king and all the maidens in the kingdom were invited to the ball where the king hoped that his son might choose a bride for himself. Poor Cinderella could not go because her stepmother and her stepsisters didn´t let her go. With broken heart Cinderella sat beside the window and watch the sisters going in a carriage. When they left Cinderella sat by the fire place and cried and that was when she heard a voice. ‘What do you want, my dear’, the voice said. Cinderella turned and saw an old woman with a magic wand in her hands, ‘Don´t be scared,’ she said. I am your fairy godmother and I can make your wish come true. Cinderella wanted to go to the dances and she wished for it. She went to the ball dance with the prince and married him. Cinderella and the prince lived happily ever after.
